The exhibition theme comes from the quote “Go for it, try to get it as it is and it won’t be right anyway but that’s okay”. Speaking to the process of deriving imagery from everyday life without being too precious about how to translates the things we see and what they mean to us.
These works explore a dedication the the act of painting. Harping back to the themes of relinquishing a sense of preciousness and leaning into intuition. Abstraction as a method does not aim to provide an accurate depiction of our visual reality. Instead using colour, form, and gesture to reference the unseen.
Blurred subject matter take the form of floral arrangements and table settings. While leaning heavily on the process of painting itself, ideas around hospitality and gatherings and the fleeting nature of these interactions appear. Underscored by the consideration of loss, flowers act both as a signifier of welcoming and parting. Notions which hang as heavy motive to these works.
